Bacteria will reach detectable levels after 7-8 months, but not dangerous levels until 12-14 months. Some customers prefer to change their cartridges after 6 months to keep the bacteriological qualities of their filters at peak performance. A 9 month cycle or 2400 litres is acceptable for maximum performance in removing the chemicals and pesticide residues.
