To install the Countertop under the bench, It is necessary to drill a small hole in the bench top, where the tap supplied in the conversion kit will be fitted. Sometimes, it may be necessary to cut into the pipe under the sink, but this is not always the case. 

Do I need a plumber?
Some customers prefer to enlist the services of a registered plumber to install the Undersink Kit. This will take approximately ½ hour. Do I need to use the tap that comes with the Under Sink Installation Kit, or can I use another manufacturer’s dispenser?
You can use any brand of tap with Aquasana as long as it is a “vented” tap, meaning that it has three tubes coming from the bottom. One tube runs from the supply line to the tap, one runs from the tap to the filter, and one runs from the filter back to the tap. This type of tap directs pressure to the filter only when the filter is in use.

Can I run the supply line directly to the inlet of the filter?
You cannot run water straight from the supply line to the filter because the system simply will not handle the pressure. The tap is designed this way so that the filter unit does not have to bear the brunt of the pressure. Rather, the pressure is maintained in the tap to prevent leaking or, worse yet, exploding filters.

Do I need a Pressure Regulator?

If you are installing the Aquasana unit as an underbench system, it is possible to add a pressure regulator at the time of installation, although its not necessary as the taps have them built in.

The Aquasana utilizes a vented style tap which maintains the pressure at the valve, preventing the filter system from being under pressure while not in use.

After you turn the water on, it runs through the filter and back up to the tap, then when you turn the water off, the unit is no longer under pressure so you could never flood your house.

However if your water pressure is extremely high, you could order one of the premium taps, which are made from steel as they will last much longer in high water pressure.
